Human Trafficking is, quite simply, modern-day slavery. Over the past five years, New Mexico has moved forward in addressing this issue on many fronts. This day-long symposium will explore the multidimensional impact of human trafficking on the victims and society in which it occurs. By examining issues including the stigma of sex trafficking, community, civic, and law enforcement responses, and the challenges to healing and recovery, this gathering aspires to raise the standard of care victims are receiving and move the field toward a dignified, human rights-based approach to comprehensive, best-practice aftercare.
